Alfie's masterclass as U-15 lose by 1 run

In a gripping finale Horspath failed by one run to match hosts Bicester and North Oxford's total of 94 . That Horspath got that close was entirely down to a superb 49 from U-13 Alfie Turner who went in with the score at 7-3 which rapidly became 7-5. He built a partnership of 23 with fellow U-13 Harvey Shorter and then after the fall of another 3 wickets almost took Horspath to victory when he found the ideal partner in Jamie Hicks, another U-13, in a stand off 48. Alfie was caught with 10 required having laced his innings with 8 boundaries. It was left to last pair Jamie and Tom Martin to score the 10 necessary and they fell just short with Jamie left on 8* and Tom 4* Earlier Bicester were indebted to an unbeaten 40* from Graham James and a surfeit of 27 wides from some wayward Horspath bowling to reach their total of 94-6. There were first U-15 wickets for Muaawiyah Shaheen, Elliott Ward,Tom Martin, Simon White and Eban Wakefield
