A very assured and unbeaten 30 from Luke Heritage saw Horspath to victory over local rivals Aston Rowant at the rec last night. Winning the toss and electing to field, Horspath started tightly to restrict the visitors to just 19-2 from the first 7 overs. Elliot Ward & Charlie Turner were the spearhead of the Path attack and ensured Rowant would never get above a run a ball. Rowant gathered momentum in the second half of the innings and managed to post 103 for 4 by the end of the 20 overs. Horspath responded well and were always ahead of the run rate and after 7 overs were 33 for 2. Alfie Turner, Will Duckett and Charlie Turner had all posted double figures before Luke came to the crease and took the game away from Rowant. His red ink 30 contained five fours and some excellent running and calling. Elliot then hit a brisk 8 before some excellent fielding resulted in a run-out. Josh Cummings and Jamie Hicks calmly saw Horspath over the line with an over to spare to chalk up a pleasing victory.
