Rameez racks up a ton in cup victory

RAMEEZ Raja reeled off a century in Horspath's resounding 99-run win at Kingston Bagpuize in the Wilf Bennett Trophy first round. Riding his luck on a slow pitch as Kingston's fielders dropped numerous chances, Rameez raced to 107 from 73 balls with two sixes and 17 fours in Horspath's 190-4 from 20 overs. Under overcast skies, he shared an opening stand of 146 with Shahbaz Ali, who made 50 off 33 balls with two sixes and six boundaries, going to his half-century with an audacious switch-hit maximum over third man.

It proved too daunting a target for Kingston, who closed on 91-1 with Marco Cecchini (46no) and Jordan Smith (30no) putting on an unbroken second-wicket stand of 85 in fading light after Jason Cardy had taken the only wicket to fall.
