Horspath make it two cup wins out of two

HORSPATH made it two wins from two South Group games in the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup with a convincing seven-wicket victory at Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts. With rain around the county, the Bletchingdon ground evaded the heavy showers and Horspath took advantage with a good display in the field to restrict the hosts to 92-9 from their 20 overs on a tricky batting pitch. Only opener Vasu Shah (28) made any headway against the pink ball as Ryan Hicks (2-14) took early wickets before Lloyd Belcher, switching to seam bowling from his usual left-arm spin, picked up 3-15 in the closing overs. There was also a wicket apiece for Tyrone Eyles, Asad Rafiq and George Horsley. Tom Coleman, who made an unbeaten 117 against Henley on Saturday, then carried on where he left off with 40 not out to see Horspath home at 94-3 with 5.2 overs to spare. Alex Thomas (14no) finished the game in style with a four back over the bowler's head, while Charlie Bethell, with 1-15 from his four overs, was the pick of the home attack. Horspath are back in cup action at home to Thame next week.
