Horspath to open season with Slough trip

HORSPATH will open a new Home Counties Premier League Division 1 season with a trip to Slough on Saturday, May 5 next year. Will Eason's side, who pulled off a great escape from relegation with a ten-wicket win at Great & Little Tew on the final day of last season, got the better of a hard-fought draw at Slough in June, before suffering a 44-run defeat by the Berkshire club at the Recreation Ground two months later. Horspath's first home game is against old rivals Oxford the following Saturday, May 12. With six Oxfordshire clubs in the division next season, there will be plenty of local derbies. Horspath host Banbury on June 2, before visiting champions Henley the following weekend when the format switches from 50-overs-a-side matches to timed games. Horspath entertain Thame Town, last season's Division 2 runners-up, on June 16, while Division 2 champions Aston Rowant visit the Recreation Ground two weeks later. In the reverse fixtures, Horspath are away to Oxford on July 14, while they will end the campaign at Aston Rowant on September 1.
