John Thompson

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of John ' Tommo ' Thompson at the age of 67. A larger than life character and ardent supporter of the Club. one can recall many fond memories from the past. Ranging from his brilliant performance as Master of Ceremonies on the Club's tour of South Africa.to his wearing every piece of protective equipment from the changing room going out to face Simon Cook as eleventh man against Cumnor, to no avail. If he had a love of cricket, his passion was for rugby. An outstanding hooker for the Met Police and Oxford Old Boys he also gave much back to the game, as a coach and motivator, following his retirement. It his no coincidence that he supported the two sports that provided a vibrant social scene. His iconic pose of cigarette in one hand and pint tucked under his opposite arm, whilst giving his opinion of the game, or the match, will long live in the memory. Our thoughts at this sad time are with Michelle. Ben, Adam and the rest of the family Funeral details will follow when available.
