O'Connor hits back-to-back tons for Horspath 2nd

STAND-IN skipper Dom O'Connor made it back-to-back centuries for Horspath 2nd in Cherwell League Division 1 - but it still wasn't enough for an elusive first win as they went down by 21 runs at home to Tiddington. O'Connor, who hit 108 against Long Marston a week earlier, followed up with 107 as Horspath fell short on 254 all out in reply to the visitors' 275-9 after they had chosen to bat first. Tiddington were indebted to an unbroken last-wicket partnership of 59 between Nick Pykett (75no) and Neil Smith - with their total boosted by 18 penalty runs - six for each of the three overs that Horspath failed to bowl within the alloted time. That situation wasn't helped by conceding 31 wides, which prolonged the innings. Earlier, opener Will Cooper had made 56 off 94 balls with ten fours, while Pykett's runs came from 62 deliveries with a six and 12 boundaries. Jason Cardy (3-30) shone with the ball for Horspath, while there were two wickets apiece for Asad Rafiq and Mohson Rana, and one for Adrian Manger and Tyrone Eyles. Wicket-keeper Craig Wharton took four catches. O'Connor, whose runs came from 124 deliveries with 15 fours, and Wharton took Horspath's reply to 47 before three wickets went down for one run. Chris Jones gave the innings momentum with a hard-hit 44 from 55 balls, and Rana chipped in with 27, but despite O'Connor's century the target proved out of reach as Max Smith took 3-44.
