Super Spindler's 7-58 fires up Horspath 4th

TREVOR Spindler rolled back the years to take 7-58 in Horspath 4th's six-wicket win at Witney Mills 2nd in Cherwell League Division 7. The evergreen seamer sent the hosts reeling to 120 all out after they had been put in to bat - a total which would have been considerably less but for Nicholas Anderson-Pearce, who hit an unbeaten 73. Spindler was supported by a youthful attack with Charlie Turner (2-14) and Harvey Shorter (1-19) taking the other wickets. And it was Horspath's youngsters who shone with the bat as Luke Heritage (44) and Shorter (26no) followed up last week's match-saving heroics to steer their side to victory at 123-4. Horspath 3rd got the better of a draw at home to third-placed Witney Mills in Division 4. The hosts posted 206-7 after electing to bat first, with openers Jamie Stead and Derek Watts both making 33 as they put on 69 for the first wicket. After being reduced to 140-7, Horspath were indebted to an unbroken eight-wicket stand of 66 between young George Horsley (38no) and Tom Smith (32no) for their final total as Oliver Burney took 3-57. A solid all-round bowling display then restricted Mills to 168-8, with Adeel Rehman (3-38) leading the way. Sam Buckfield (48) and Michael Dove (25) shared a 78-run stand for the fifth wicket to frustrate Horspath as Horsley took 2-27, while there was a wicket apiece for Stuart Berry, Hayden Moon and Smith.
