Cosford blasts 83 off 34 balls in T20 win

TOM Cosford hammered 83 off just 34 balls as Horspath made it a hat-trick of wins in the South Group of the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup with a 13-run home victory over Thame. Cosford's explosive display of hitting saw him smash an incredible ten sixes plus four boundaries as the hosts were 157 all out. His brutal assault on the Thame bowling came to an end in just the ninth over when he was bowled by Mike Higgs, with the score on 120. Cosford didn't hit the biggest six, though, with opening partner Harrison Ward achieving that feat when he cleared the house at the corner of the ground with a towering blow into the village. Unfortunately his knock didn't last much longer, which was the case with the rest of the order as the hosts fell away with the visitors even bowling three maidens as Hassam Mushtaq (2-15) and Higgs (2-19) led the way. However, Horspath's total proved enough with Thame falling short on 144-7, despite Callum Russell blasting an unbeaten 43 from 29 balls. The wickets were shared between Asad Rafiq (2-7), Jehan Mohammed (2-28), Lloyd Belcher (2-29) and Ward (1-23). Horspath are due to be away to Rowant Steamcats this week.
