Berry's magnificent seven in vain for Horspath 3rd

STUART Berry's haul of 7-60 proved in vain as Horspath 3rd crashed to a 119-run defeat at leaders Minster Lovell in Cherwell League Division 4. His terrific 17-over spell pegged back the hosts, but it couldn't stop them rattling up 240-7 dec after they had elected to bat first. Elliot Graham (75) and captain Harry Ebsworth (41) put on 97 for the first wicket, before Ryan Frost (32no) took them to the declaration. Horspath were soon in trouble at 17-4, and although John Perkins (40) and Ryan Hicks (29) held Minster up, Horspath were all out for 121. James Mutton (2-12), Leigh Smith (2-16) and Brian Barrett (2-32) did the early damage, before Eddie Dunn (3-23) polished off the tail. Hayden Moon took 5-34 as hosts Horspath 4th held Division 7 leaders Minster Lovell 2nd to a draw. Moon's superb spell helped restrict Minster to 185-9 after they had been put in to bat, with Wes Spearman (41no) top-scoring. Horspath staged a valiant run chase, before closing on 166-8 as Henry Crowther picked up 4-47.
